THE UNSPOKEN

LJ IRETON

In the quiet in-between -

Liquid mirror purple dark,

The spirit of the Sun

Lingers

Like perfume the fox cubs sniff and pounce,

While the adults wait for the moon,

Heady, expectant -

For truths drawn out and

Dreams pinned under the heavy sun

To crawl silver

From the earth.

It is the time of the crepuscular,

The knowing -

Follow the cats, they sense the turning

In this grey,

When vision of your hands fades

But the unspoken is growing,

Black rose word petals appear -

The lines of poetry breathe

With the breath of creatures

Raising their heads.
